イベント運営をされている方から「参加者への記念品として、和のテイストのブローチを作れないか」という相談があって、挑戦してみたんです。3Dプリンターの二色成形を活かせば面白いものができるはず、という直感でスタートしました。

漢字は「華」を選択。画数が多く、デザインとしての密度が高いから小さなブローチでも情報量があって映えるんです。

I recently received an interesting request from an event organizer: they wanted a Japanese-style brooch as a souvenir for their participants. I immediately thought about how 3D printing, especially dual-color molding, could create something truly unique.

For the kanji, I chose 「華」 (hana, meaning 'flower' or 'splendor') because its many strokes offer a high density for design. To kickstart the design process, instead of jumping straight into 3D CAD, I used AI image generation. My prompt was “kanji hana brooch Japanese modern.” The AI suggested a design combining an arabesque pattern with the kanji, and it was so good that I decided to run with it almost exactly as proposed.

AIでデザインのたたき台を作る

まずAI画像生成で「漢字 華 ブローチ 和モダン」とプロンプトを入れていくつか方向性を確認。AIが提案した唐草模様と漢字を組み合わせたデザインが良かったので、ほぼそのまま3DCADに落とし込みました。AIとの協業がこんな形で役立つとは思っていなかったんです。

二色成形の配色がポイント

ベースをダークブラウン、漢字と装飾部分をホワイトで出力。FDMプリンターのデュアルノズルを使って一体成形で二色を実現したんです。この配色が和モダンの雰囲気にぴったりはまりました。

サイズは直径35mm、厚み3mm。ブローチピンはAmazonで購入したものを接着剤で取り付けています。全部合わせて1個あたりの材料費は約180円。30個まとめて作っても5,400円程度なんです。まとまった数量を作る場合の単価の安さが3Dプリントの強みだと改めて実感しました。

The Texture Born from Dual-Color Molding

We printed the base in dark brown, with the kanji and decorative elements in white. Using a dual-nozzle FDM printer, we achieved the two colors in a single, integrated print. This color scheme was a huge success! The white characters really pop against the dark brown, giving the brooch a beautiful, carved-wood craft aesthetic. The client was absolutely thrilled, saying it was “beyond their imagination.”

This project really highlighted the potential of 3D printing for event souvenirs and novelty items. Its ability to handle small-batch production is perfect for this kind of need. Whether it's 10 or 50 pieces, the quality remains consistent, and minor design adjustments are easy. Imagine offering custom kanji brooches where participants could choose their name or a favorite character—the possibilities for service expansion are huge!
