Okay, I'm not sure if I should laugh or be annoyed by this news. On Microsoft's official Discord server, someone from inside the company got fed up with users calling them 'Microslop' (a slang pejorative for Microsoft) and decided to ban the word.
The Streisand Effect Strikes Again
Naturally, this just poured fuel on the fire. Backlash immediately erupted with cries of "Is this censorship?" and "Are you not even allowing criticism?" Things spiraled out of control, ultimately forcing them to take the worst possible action: locking the entire server (stopping all posts). The internet is now openly mocking it as a textbook example of the "Streisand Effect."
[jito]Wow, this is just a classic self-own. Someone at Microsoft really misjudged how the internet reacts to attempts at censorship, especially on their own official platform. [smile]

Honestly, I get it. If people were constantly making fun of my company every day, even I, as a moderator, would get irritated. But you just can't do that on an official server, can you? For context, 'Microslop' is a name users started using due to frustrations with Windows Update bugs and the aggressive promotion of Edge. It's a term packed with a lot of love-hate. The original source for this news comes from Windows Latest.
